Carrying forward the passion of Christ's first followers

Mercy Team

The Mercy Team is the core of missional and outreach programs. This team leads our congregation in the many ways we serve the community.

The Mercy Team believes that God has prepared good works in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). We know that the journey of following Jesus includes caring for the people he loves. So, we look for opportunities to encourage one another, individually and corporately, to outbursts of love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24).

Our focus is on meeting needs in our community both through planned projects and taking care of incidental situations as they arise. We enjoy several connections throughout the Flushing school system which allow us to plan and respond in helpful ways. We’re privileged to be part of the Flushing Christian Outreach Center scheduled to be opening in early 2007.

The Mercy Team meets at 6 p.m. on the first Monday of each month. Meetings are held in the church building often accompanied by light snacks (yesssss!). Those who are interested or curious are always welcome.

Takhomabox

We had such a great response with the Thanksgiving Dinner boxes that we are doing it again... for Christmas! Take home a box to fill with the items listed in the letter provided. Make this a project for the whole family. There are still plenty of boxes to fill! Please have the filled box back to the church on or before Dec 16. Thank you for your generosity during this holiday season!

Flushing Christian Outreach Center

Did you know that FCC is partnering with several other Flushing churches to open the Flushing Christian Outreach Center (FCOC) in January? The Center has been created to help people in times of need, and hosted an open house during the Candlewalk festivities. FCOC is located at the corner of Maple and McKinley Road (formerly Gussies Salon). Contact Kelly Lehnst (659-6361) if you have questions about the Center.
