COVID Protocol for 2022 Season

The following are changes we are implementing for our upcoming 16th Season of Upward:

Face Coverings: Masks will be a family decision. We ask that each family take precautions with symptoms and covid exposures when deciding to participate at practice & game days.

Cleaning Procedures: It is not feasible for us to clean between each practice time slot. We will provide cleaner for coaches to clean balls and any known areas of concern. We will be utilizing disinfectant foggers and other surface cleaners on game day between each game.

Fan Attendance: We ask that you do your best to limit family attendance at practices. We understand this isn't always possible. At this point, we will no be limiting the number of fans attending game days. Please understand that space will be tight and anyone who feels at risk should consider not attending.

**NOTE: Anyone who has been exposed to COVID-19 or is showing any symptoms should not attend practice or game day. This includes any participant and adult! If team-wide exposure causes the cancellation of a game, we will do our best to make up this game if possible (cannot be guaranteed). Refunds can not be given unless it comes from the Global Headquarters of Upward Sports.

How do I register for this season?

Registration for the 2022 Season is now CLOSED.

Who do I make the league fee check out to?

You can pay easily online through our quick and easy ONLINE registration process. In the event you wish to submit a check, checks are payable to Flushing Community Church (a service fee is assessed for any returned checks). Of course, cash still works, too! The FCC Admin Office is open Tuesday - Friday from 9am to 3pm.

My child played last year, do I need to purchase a new jersey?

Yes. Upward changes league colors each year and the jersey is built into the league fees.

Do I have to order shorts/turtleneck?

Registration fees now include the entire basketball and cheerleading uniform. This is to help streamline our evaluation night process and we feel that having the complete uniform is still a great value for all of our families. If this proves to be a hardship, please contact us.

Can my pre-schooler play?

No. We can only allow Junior Kindergarten through 6th grade only.

Can I request to play with a friend or a specific coach?

No. Due to the size and complexity of our league, we are unable to honor coach requests. See our Program Director for extreme issues or hardships this could create.

What night will my child have practice?

Practices take place M-F from 5-8PM. Younger children practice earlier in the night. Practice schedules will not be available until after teams have been established. On your registration form, you will be able to block ONE night from practice possibilities due to other conflicts.

When will I receive my practice and game schedule?

You should receive a call from your coach letting you know your practice day and time 2-3 weeks after registrations have closes. The coach will introduce him/herself and let you know when you will practice. You will receive a game schedule at your first practice along with your uniform and a box of goodies from Upward.

When is it too late to sign up my child for basketball or cheerleading?

Deadlines are important. Each year we do our best to get the word out about the program so everyone has plenty of time to sign up. We will do our best to accommodate late registrations based on the sizes of our teams. Rarely we can take a player or cheerleader after the registration process ends.

Can I call with questions?

Yes - please do. Our office is now located at our church building but you may call us at 810-732-0282 with questions. Our Upward Director is not on our church staff so we may need to take a message and have someone else respond to your questions. Thanks for your understanding - but we will certainly do all we can to assist you!
