Learning Opportunities
Flushing Community Church offers many opportunities for Christian growth through learning. If you have a question or would like to register for any Core Class, please see Julie Close or email her at juliaclose@msn.com. For the Winter of 2007, we are offering the following classes:
Parenting Young Children
Dr Jesse Soulia will be hosting 3 weeks of *Parenting Young Children* on Sunday nights, beginning January 14 2007. Dr Soulia has been in private practice for over 20 years, the Soulias are long-time Flushing residents and have three *almost grown* children of their own. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you to gather with other parents of young children, ask questions and discuss issues. (3 sessions; 6:00-7:30 pm, Jan 14, 21, 28; childcare will be provided)
Alpha 3 - Basic Beliefs of Christianity
ALPHA has three sessions covering the basic beliefs of Christianity. This third session will deal with the following topics: 1/ How can I resist evil? 2/ Why and how should we tell others? 3/ Does God heal today? 4/ What about the Church? (7pm Wednesdays in January, beginning Jan 10; register by Jan 7 at info table or by email)
Bible Basics Workshop
If you*ve ever wondered, *Where do I start?* ... this is the place for you! Bible Basics is a 2 hour workshop that introduces you to some of the facts about the Bible, covering topics like: Where did the Bible come from? Is it true? Why and how should I read it? How does it all fit together? (7pm Wednesday Feb 21; register by Feb 18 at info table or by email)
Bible Study Basics Workshop
*I want to study, but I don*t know how and I don*t know where to begin* ... This new 2-hour workshop will help you gain confidence as you learn to study God*s Word on your own. You will learn and practice a few simple methods of Bible study that will help you identify and apply spiritual truths that can enrich your life and equip you to serve Him better. (offered Feb 7 7pm (register by Feb 4), and March 28 7pm (register by Mar 25)
Ten Great Dates
Looking for a way to reconnect with your spouse and spark some romance in your marriage??? Ten Great Dates is a fun way to do both of these things with your memory-making evenings built on marriage-enriching, husband-friendly themes. Date evenings will start with a short video (20 min or less) and then you*re off to date your mate! Don*t wait to register! Time is short! (10 sessions, 7pm Fridays beginning Jan 12; registration deadline Jan 3, fee $15/couple)
Membership Workshop
Membership Workshop will help you learn the history of Flushing Community Church, as well as what we believe. What is a Nazarene? Membership Workshop is a requirement for joining the membership of FCCN, but you may take the workshop and decide to not join. (7pm; 3 Wednesdays beginning Mar 7; registeration deadline Feb 25)
Crown Biblical Financial Study
Getting your finances on track is a great way to start off the new year! Crown is a 10-week small-group biblical study of God*s principles concerning your money and possessions. Groups meet for 2 hours each week. Over 50 individuals from Flushing Community have taken this course and it ahs revolutionized their personal finances, as well as their attitudes towards the *things* God has entrusted them with. (registration fee $45/person, or $55/couple)
